Chalk the Walk - Apart but Together
WHO: The Englewood Arts District, WestIN Connection, Englewood Business Association and the Independence Square Association have collaborated to bring a FREE event to the community.
WHAT: Organizers chose the theme Apart But Together as it reflects current world events and that while both areas (The Square and Englewood) are distanced they support each other. The public is invited to participate in connecting The Englewood Arts District to the Independence Square with sidewalk chalk art. From doodles to drawings to murals let's tell our stories through art. Families, individuals, pros and amateur artists are encouraged to participate. Grab some chalk and tell your story on the sidewalks!
WHEN: Start your art on Friday August the 21 at 5:00pm and have it completed by Sunday the 23 at 12:00pm.
Englewood Arts will reveal a 30 ft. mural on Friday, August 21 as part of the Third Friday Art Walk at 6:30pm.
Watch live chalk demos on the Independence Square on Saturday, August 22. Starting time TBD, depending on weather.
WHERE: Participants are encouraged to share their drawings on the sidewalks of the downtown Independence Square, down Lexington Street to Winner Road and throughout Englewood Arts District. This is roughly a one-mile route between both areas (The Square and Englewood).
WHY: Let's come together as a community while we continue social distance safety. Participants are encouraged to bring their own chalk. Some merchants may have small packets of chalk for sale.
