Community Birth Class: Storytelling for Expectant Parents
Uzazi Village Troost Ave., Kansas City, Missouri 64110
"Combining the ancient art of teaching through storytelling with evidence-based information fuses different kinds of knowing and makes for meaningful and holistic preparation." ~Pam England
This donation-based event is for parents and any member of the greater Kansas City community to experience learning through mythic story. This is not a traditional western-style class. While the focus will be on birth, birth can be a metaphorical idea around any major life transition as we birth ourselves into something else, be it mother, father, partner, individual, elder, etc.
Registration/RSVPs are encouraged, but not required. Everyone is welcome, regardless of ability to donate. If you can donate, all funds will go to benefit Uzazi Village and their goal to decrease black infant mortality and racially-based perinatal health inequities in Kansas City and beyond.
Tara Stratton, the founder of No BS Birth, is a Birthing From Within advanced mentor, retired birth and postpartum doula, doula mentor and facilitator for the largest independent doula network in the KC area, and a healthcare learning & development specialist. She has helped hundreds of families in the perinatal space for over 10 years.
