FASHION INTENSIVE: SEWING FOR BEGINNERS, $139
Saturday, June 15 from 8 a.m. to noon
Do you want an entry-level lesson on sewing and garment construction? Do you have a sewing machine but are uncertain how to use it?
Join us for a hands-on introductory course that will teach you the foundational skills needed to construct simple textile items including home goods and apparel. This class is perfect for the aspiring sewist who has been curious to try sewing or the self-taught sewist that would like to increase their knowledge and technical skill set.
Only 10 places!
Students will work on Janome HD-3000 and School Mate 7330 straight-stitch home sewing machines and Janome and Babylock home sergers.
Students will:
- Cut and sew a tote bag,
- Learn sewing vocabulary including sewing machine parts and apparel construction terminology,
- Learn how to thread and operate a conventional sewing machine including trouble-shooting common issues,
- Receive instruction on how to read a commercial sewing pattern,
- Learn basic techniques to create sewn products including how to pin and cut fabric and order of operations for construction, and
- Receive a complimentary Rightfully Sewn sewing pattern for a tote bag to continue sewing at home.
Basic sewing supplies will be provided. A shopping list will be provided.
This class is being taught by Rightfully Sewn Production and Operations Manager. She is a graduate of New Mexico State University and has more than 7 years of experience in the industry and teaching.
