We are grateful our doors are open to provide you and your loved ones with a memorable holiday experience. In an unprecedented season, we are making festival adjustments as needed to keep our community safe.
Please be aware of the changes to festival ticketing and procedures detailed below. We're thankful for guest feedback and look forward to safely hosting you in the Gardens this holiday season!
As of December 1, 2020, Powell Gardens will operate with the following safety precautions in place:
- Non-members are required to make daily reservations online to manage capacity. Advanced reservations allow us to provide a contactless experience and regulate the number of visitors in the Gardens at any given time. To ensure availability, purchase tickets online before arrival.
- Members do not need to make advanced reservations and will be able to access the Gardens by showing their membership card upon entry.
Tickets purchased before December 1, 2020 may still be used any night of the festival. Please bring paper or digital tickets purchased before December 1, 2020 to the front desk to access the Gardens. (Member and pre-purchased tickets are accounted for in Garden capacity.)
Festival of Lights: Enchantment is an outdoor, rain or shine event. Tickets are non-refundable. However, if the Gardens close due to inclement weather, advanced reservations for that day will be refunded.
In accordance with Johnson County, MO and other local health mandates, masks continue to be required indoors, in marked mask zones, and outdoors where social distancing is not possible.
Tables and chairs have been removed from the Visitor Center to eliminate gathering in high-traffic areas. Benches and tables are spread out on the path.
Additional side exits have been added to eliminate two-way traffic at the end of the path.
The Winter Wine Bar in the Heartland Harvest Garden has been closed for the season. Staff at this location have been deployed to other areas of the Gardens to help with line management and other festival needs. Fire pits remain in the Heartland Harvest Garden for guests to enjoy.
The Grand Hall Bar, Enchanted Tiki Bar and Holly Jolly Rest Stop remain open 4-9:30 p.m. serving beverages as well as sweet and savory snacks.
Festival hours continue to be limited to 4-10 p.m. to ensure our custodial staff can maintain increased sanitization procedures.
To make the festival enjoyable for all guests, visitors are encouraged to follow CDC recommendations and practice social distancing during their visit.
We appreciate your support as we navigate the challenges presented by COVID-19. Leadership is meeting frequently to review feedback and make festival adjustments as necessary.
ABOUT THE FESTIVAL:
Festival-goers will walk a mile-long path spread out over 25 acres through the Gardens featuring a variety of immersive light displays. (The path is ADA compliant and shorter options are available.) More than 20 miles of holiday lights comprise installations that highlight the natural forms of Powell Gardens’ tree collection, show off the exceptional architecture and landscape design of the Gardens, and transport visitors to enchanted wonderlands, with plenty of Instagram and holiday card-worthy photo stops along the way.
The eight-week festival will highlight fan-favorite installations alongside brand new displays. New features include a greenhouse transformed into a holiday-themed enchanted tiki bar complete with tropical plants and music as well as a new wine experience in the Vineyard.
On Fridays and Saturdays between Nov. 27 and Dec. 19, families will have the opportunity to deliver their holiday wish lists to Santa in a festively transformed corncrib in the Children’s Garden, where he will be posing for photos. The festival will also feature a creation station with holiday-themed make-and-take crafts.
