Lexington's Second Sunday participants and visitors can take a scenic walking tour of Forest Grove Cemetery, an old historic African American cemetery established in 1890 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This 8 acre plot of land consists of rolling hills and flat lands, mature trees and some native MO plants. The hallowed grounds serve as the final resting place for over 1000 individuals, many of whom made significant contributions to Lexington’s rich history. Those graves represent farmers, coal miners, educators, athletes, musicians, entrepreneurs, veterans, barbers, cooks, religious leaders, domestics and construction workers.
Come to the 2nd Baptist Church at 12th & Main, park and catch one of the scheduled tour rides:
11am – 12 noon
12:30pm – 1:30 pm
2pm – 3pm
