Great Plains SPCA Launches 2023 “Lend A Paw” Match Campaign

Great Plains SPCA (GPSPCA) kicks off its annual “Lend A Paw” fundraising match campaign. From June 1 through July 31, 2023, GPSPCA has a goal of raising $350,000, the first $150,000 of which will be matched by a generous donor.
As a private, non-profit organization, GPSPCA is not subsidized by any government agency and 75% of its operating costs are funded through donations. Dog adoptions are down 25% from the prior six months and average length of stay this year is 30 days, an increase of three days or 11 percent over 2022. These factors make it more critical than ever that donors continue to support GPSPCA and its life-saving work.
GPSPCA CEO, Tam Singer said, “This year has been extra tough with so many long-term pets in our care. We, more than any other local shelter, focus on quality of life for these animals that have known the shelter as their home for so long—some as long as two years. Whether someone donates $5 or $500, it all goes to continuing the life-saving work that this team does every day to help homeless pets. And we are fortunate that a very generous donor will match the first $150,000 that we raise.”
The public can support GPSPCA’s Lend A Paw campaign by donating online at www.greatplainsspca.org/lend-a-paw or mailing a check to 5428 Antioch Drive, Merriam, KS 66202. Donations are tax deductible.
Members of the media are welcome to come to the shelter for interviews about the campaign and to meet adoptable pets for human interest stories.
