Hummingbird Festival
to
George Owens Nature Park 1601 S. Speck Rd., Independence, Missouri 64057

Ruby-throated hummingbirds pass through here during their fall migration, attracted by our wildflowers and abundant feeders. During the first week of August, we increase the number of feeders to 50. More and more birds arrive throughout the month. It’s one of the best times to see monarch butterflies too. Come out anytime to walk among the wildflowers, the hummingbirds and the butterflies.
During the festival, we’ll have hummingbird banding, expert advice, kid crafts and games, and native wildflowers for sale.
The hummingbird feeders will stay up into October while the birds are migrating.
