Students will:
· Learn assembly procedures for different components of garments;
· Become knowledgeable about many types of fabric;
· Advance knowledge of sewing machine functions, parts, and maintenance;
· Develop quality control processes;
· Learn about on-the-job expectations;
· Work in teams to create line operations; and
· Become familiar with the production process of fashion design.
Basic fabric for projects and sewing machines (industrial machines, sergers, coverstitch, and blindstitch) will be provided; students must provide their own sewing kit and fabric for sewing projects. A shopping list will be provided.
Perfect for individuals who are looking to secure a professional position with a manufacturer. No sewing experience necessary, but there will be an entrance exam.
This class is being taught by Rightfully Sewn Head Seamstress, Irene McCool. She is a graduate of Jannette Klein Universidad’s fashion design program in her native Mexico City and has 14 years of production, training, and quality control experience.
