LAURA HICKLI (Art Pop)
Sounds like: Fiona Apple, Tori Amos, Kate Bush, Weyes Blood
Laura Hickli (Mohkínstsis/Calgary) is an internationally touring progressive art pop songstress known for her tightly arranged dreamy soundscapes, exquisite vocals, evocative lyrics, and emotionally powerful performances. The classically trained pianist was homeschooled in a conspiracy-laden religious household where she honed her ability to reflect deeply felt emotions through dynamic, textured, and technical songwriting and production.
During the tour of her latest record ‘Both Feet In The World, At Least I Can Stand,' (North Pole Records) Laura and her band suffered a serious motor vehicle accident that left Laura with PTSD and a traumatic head injury. After nearly a year in recovery, she emerges with gripping and exceedingly personal new music birthed during her chaotic grieving process.
Hickli has a knack for creating art out of life's ebbs and offering a small gift of resilience to the returning tides. A performer in several award-winning projects, Hickli’s personal works continue to receive radio play on CBC, BBC+, Top Album of the Year awards, and accolades from The Big Takeover, Cups N Cakes and more.
Currently preparing to record her new album ‘stranger to myself’ at The National Music Centre and embark on a two-month international tour this summer, Hickli’s developing story offers a fresh and inviting look at what life can be, while carrying the foundations of her spellbindingly intimate, yet explosive brand of dark process-music.

TRUE LIONS (Elevated Freak Folk)
Alison “Al” Hawkins is a songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, music teacher, and leader of True Lions, which is band consisting of Al and whoever is playing music with them, which often includes their partner Fritz Hutchison—a drummer, singer, guitarist, songwriter, producer, bandmate, bandleader, friend, sibling, Gemini, and Kansas Citian who just wants to do a good job and keep it fun for everybody. Last year, True Lions and Fritz Hutchison released a homemade split cassette tape via Manor Records. When their drummer Eli Kosko moved to the desert, Al, Fritz and bassist Carly Atwood started playing acoustic fiddle tunes. When Carly was sometimes unavailable to play, Al and Fritz explored amplified fiddle distortion, heavy drums, and bass synth through Ozark old time. Hence, enter their 2024 album COLD GRAVY BOWL!

DANIEL GUM (Singer/Songwriter)
Daniel Gum is a singer-songwriter based out of Kansas City, KS who has been active since 2017—releasing a couple EPs before putting out his debut album ‘Thirteen’ in 2020. In 2021 he released a one-off single and music video for his song “The Wolverine”, and in 2022 a cover of Big Star’s “Thirteen” and The Beatles’ “Julia”. In addition to working with his band on his solo projects, Daniel has worked with other local groups—playing bass and engineering for the band Pillow (a post-punk/shoegaze group) and playing drums behind singer-songwriter Chloe Jacobson—as well as producing some of her music. Although Gum has been writing songs since he was 12, he has doubled down on songwriting in the last couple of years—most notably writing over 60 songs in preparation for his LP debut. Channeling the likes of Elliott Smith & Andy Shauf, he co-produced his new record Thirteen with Mike Crawford, playing almost everything you hear on the album and mixing it himself. He is currently working on writing and recording his next 2 albums.
