SUMMARY:The Nostalgia Awakens: Retro Kenner Star Wars Action Figure Toys
DESCRIPTION:Embark on an intergalactic voyage to see The Nostalgia Awakens: Retro Kenner Star Wars Action Figure Toys\, The National Museum of Toys and Miniatures‘ upcoming exhibition featuring EVERY action figure toy made by Kenner Toys from 1978-1985 based on the original three Star Wars movies. \nWhen Star Wars hit the movie theaters in 1977\, it instantly became a box office smash\, especially with children. Kids wanting to bring the action home from the theater with them could find their favorite heroes\, villains\, creatures\, and spaceships in miniature size on the toy shelves. From 1978 to 1985\, Kenner Toys manufactured hundreds of action figures\, vehicles\, and playsets featured in the movies Star Wars (1977)\, The Empire Strikes Back (1980)\, and Return of the Jedi (1982). These toys today are as iconic as the movies themselves.

SUMMARY:A Year with Frog and Toad
DESCRIPTION:Well-loved characters hop from the page to the stage in A Year with Frog and Toad\, the Tony Award-nominated musical following two great friends – the cheerful\, popular Frog and the rather grumpy Toad – through four\, fun-filled seasons. Part vaudeville\, part make-believe\, all charm\, A Year with Frog and Toad tells the story of a friendship that endures\, weathering all seasons. The jazzy upbeat score bubbles with melody and wit; an inventive\, exuberant\, and enchanting musical for the whole family. \nA Year with Frog and Toad is based on the popular Frog and Toad book series originally written and illustrated by Arnold Lobel. Weaving several short stories from the six books together with tuneful\, catchy Broadway melodies\, the musical adaptation follows Frog and Toad’s friendship over the course of one year. Each of the four seasons brings an exciting\, new adventure for the two – with the reluctant Toad usually being won over in the end – and shows how each of those experiences strengthen and grow their friendship.

SUMMARY:Ripples: Water\, Community\, and You
DESCRIPTION:Open Feb. 8\, 2025 – Jan. 10\, 2026\nWater is the lifeblood of human civilization\, shaping our history\, economy\, and environment. “Ripples” explores how water has connected us all—past\, present\, and future. From ancient inland seas to today’s interconnected watersheds\, humans have always relied on water for survival\, trade\, agriculture\, recreation\, and more. But as we face increasing challenges like historic droughts\, floods\, and pollution\, our relationship with water has never been more complex. \nVisitors to “Ripples” will dive into Johnson County’s award-winning modern water management\, the ways humans have both controlled and been shaped by water\, and the evolving mindset that views water and humans as interdependent. The exhibit showcases the region’s history through interactive displays\, artifacts\, and stories that illustrate the ripples left by past decisions and the ones we continue to create today. \nNow available as a book! Stop by the Museum Store to pick up a copy of “Ripples: Water\, Community\, and You.” Open Monday – Saturday\, 9:00 am – 4:30 pm.
