SUMMARY:stART the conversation art exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Nearly four years ago\, a group of Wyandot BHN staff came together with the idea to create an art exhibition where clients could publicly showcase their art. For so many clients\, art allowed them to express what words could not. That initial idea took root and blossomed into what is now the stART the conversation art exhibition\, which showcases the mental health-centric artwork of not only Wyandot BHN clients\, but also the larger Kansas City community. \n\nThe stART the conversation art exhibition serves as an embodiment of Wyandot BHN’s commitment to fostering dialogue and understanding around mental health and eliminating the stigma. This exhibition provides a unique stage for those with lived experience of mental health challenges to share their stories and showcase how art has helped them to heal and grow. \n\nThis event is more than an art exhibition; it’s a powerful and equitable platform where individuals can share their journeys and challenges without relying solely on words. Art is showcased as a form of storytelling through which we explore and express complex emotions.

SUMMARY:Ripples: Water\, Community\, and You
DESCRIPTION:Open Feb. 8\, 2025 – Jan. 10\, 2026\nWater is the lifeblood of human civilization\, shaping our history\, economy\, and environment. “Ripples” explores how water has connected us all—past\, present\, and future. From ancient inland seas to today’s interconnected watersheds\, humans have always relied on water for survival\, trade\, agriculture\, recreation\, and more. But as we face increasing challenges like historic droughts\, floods\, and pollution\, our relationship with water has never been more complex. \nVisitors to “Ripples” will dive into Johnson County’s award-winning modern water management\, the ways humans have both controlled and been shaped by water\, and the evolving mindset that views water and humans as interdependent. The exhibit showcases the region’s history through interactive displays\, artifacts\, and stories that illustrate the ripples left by past decisions and the ones we continue to create today. \nNow available as a book! Stop by the Museum Store to pick up a copy of “Ripples: Water\, Community\, and You.” Open Monday – Saturday\, 9:00 am – 4:30 pm.
