Families participating in the Sensory Friendly Session may choose to continue creating as the studio becomes more active\, or they may wrap up whenever they feel ready. \nSchools and groups of 15 or more may schedule weekday visits by reservation.

DESCRIPTION:Lanesfield Historic Site is open to the public from 10:00am to 4:00pm on the second Saturday of each month. Admission is free! \nAbout the Site\nThe limestone schoolhouse\, the last remaining structure in the former town of Lanesfield\, is the oldest operating schoolhouse in Johnson County. Students attended from 1869 – 1963 when the school closed. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988. The site today includes the original schoolhouse\, four outbuildings\, and a modern visitors center that houses the exhibit One-Room Schools in Kansas\, a museum store\, and restrooms. \nThe site features seven interpretive panels on the grounds that tell the story of the schoolhouse\, the town of Lanesfield and its connection with General and U.S. Senator James H. Lane\, the reasons for the town’s eventual decline\, Santa Fe Trail history\, stories of the local Border War\, and the agricultural experience in Johnson County. An accompanying audio tour is also available.

Guests will step into a glowing nighttime expedition\, following a mile-long path filled with the excitement of discovery and the thrill of uncovering long-lost riches. \nAlong the way\, visitors will encounter scenes inspired by ancient shipwrecks\, buried treasure sites\, rugged expedition camps\, and overgrown jungle landscapes—each brought to life through intricate and immersive lighted sculptures. Clues\, artifacts\, and dazzling displays guide explorers deeper into the journey\, creating the feeling of a true hidden treasure hunt. \nIn collaboration with LEKTRIK ART\, GloWild transforms the Zoo into a radiant world of adventure\, where every turn reveals a discovery waiting to be found. Crafted by 151 artisans using over 34 tons of steel and 89\,000 feet of fabric\, the displays offer a one-way path filled with photo ops\, concessions\, and entertainment.
