Low Sensory Morning
Our annual Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) Festival is upon us! Let's explore the contemporary galleries, looking at portraits of people and draw your own portrait of a person you love. Make a metal-tooled remembrance to add to the Dia de los Muertos festival altar in the Classroom 4 Art Studio. Artwork will be displayed on the altar from October 30 through November 6 as part of the festival, or you can take your remembrance home with you. This is your last chance to design your own paper car at the FunSpot in Bloch Lobby before it changes to a new theme in November!
We invite participants into the museum an hour before we open to the public in order to provide a quiet and low-stimulating environment where you can enjoy hands-on artmaking activities and art in the galleries. Visual resources, hand fidgets, a low sensory break room and other accommodations will be provided. This is an activity for families and care partners with children on the autism spectrum or people who have sensory sensitivities.
Gallery and artmaking activities and themes will change in November.
