Mariachi los Camperos
Grammy Award winner Mariachi Los Camperos was created in 1961 by Natividad “Nati” Cano. The Mariachi giant played a fundamental role in the development of mariachi music in the United States, and was the first to take performances out of cantinas and into concert halls across the U.S. In 1969, Cano opened the first Mariachi Dine and Show at La Fonda Casa de Los Camperos in Los Angeles. Today, mariachi restaurants all over the world are modeled after La Fonda.
Jesus “Chuy” Guzman has served as music director since 1992. Under Guzman’s direction, Los Camperos has won three Grammys and released eight solo and several collaborative albums. Mariachi Los Camperos continues to share the rich music and culture of mariachi tradition, influencing a new generation of mariachi musicians throughout the world.
