Mayor's Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at Crown Center
The first sign of the holiday season is the November 1 arrival of the Mayor’s Christmas Tree at Crown Center, Kansas City’s 85-acre entertainment complex and hub for the holiday season. Following a long journey from Oregon, the 100-foot tree will illuminate November 23 at 5:30 p.m. to officially kick off the season and act as a symbol for the Mayor’s Christmas Tree Fund, which benefits the Kansas City’s less fortunate residents. After the holidays, the wood is repurposed to be commemorative ornaments, which are sold the following year to benefit the Mayor's Christmas Tree Fund.
