Meet the Experts: VFW Marble Tournament at Boys Town
Get to know the experts at The National Museum of Toys and Miniatures through this monthly exploration of special topics. Father Edward Flanagan, the founder of Boys Town, insisted that the residents of his children’s home have the opportunity to play each day. One of the first games the boys played was marbles, and even actor Mickey Rooney knuckled down during the filming of the motion picture Boys Town. On October 14, join Thomas J. Lynch, Director of Community Programs at Boys Town, for a talk about the organization’s rich history of play, including the first National Veterans of Foreign Wars Marble Tournament hosted at the village in 1947.
