DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, June 7\, 2025  • Shawnee Mission Park\n\n \nA National Trails Day® celebration of Johnson County’s parks and trails. \nShawnee Mission Park\n\n \nPack the picnic basket\, gather your family and friends\, and kick off the summer with a “daycation” in Shawnee Mission Park. As always\, you’ll find a fun-filled variety of facilities and activities to choose from\, and on this special day all of them are free!  \nThis event coincides with JCPRD’s annual free fishing weekend when both state fishing licenses and JCPRD boating and archery permits are waived. \nBeach Fun\n\n \n\nFree admission to the Shawnee Mission Park Beach\n \nFood and drink concessions available for purchase at the Beach House\n\n\n\n \nMarina Fun\n\n \n\nEnjoy free one-hour pedal boat\, kayak\, canoe\, and paddleboard rentals at the Shawnee Mission Park Marina\n \nBoat reservations must be completed online and can be completed up to 7 days to your actual rental date. Walk-in reservations are taken 30-minutes prior to boat launch only. Availability is limited and advance reservations are highly encouraged.\n \nBoats rentals are available for the following times: \n\n\n\n \n\n10 am – 11 am\n \n11:30 am – 12:30 pm\n \n1 pm – 2 pm\n \n2:30 pm – 3:30 pm\n \n4 pm – 5 pm\n \n5:30 pm – 6:30 pm \n\n\n\n \nFree Fishing\, Boating\, and Archery Weekend\n\n \nJune 7 & 8 – Take advantage of this annual permit-free weekend for boating (Shawnee Mission\, Kill Creek\, and Lexington Lake parks only) and archery (Shawnee Mission Park only). This coincides with the State of Kansas’ “Free Fishing and Park Entrance Days” at state parks whereby state fishing permits are also waived. Regular park hours for these days are 5 am to 11 pm at Kill Creek\, Lexington Lake\, Meadowbrook\, and Shawnee Mission parks\, 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Antioch Park\, and dawn to dusk at the Stoll and the Streamway parks.  \nPark Locations: Shawnee Mission Park\, 7900 Renner Road\, Shawnee Mission\, KS\, 66219; Antioch Park\, 6501 Antioch Road\, Merriam\, KS 66202; Lexington Lake Park\, 8850 Sunflower Road\, De Soto\, KS 66018; Kill Creek Park\, 11670 Homestead Lane\, Olathe\, KS 66061; Meadowbrook Park\, 9101 Nall Ave.\, Prairie Village; Streamway Park\, locations vary.

SUMMARY:Reel in the fun: a guided fishing tour
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a relaxing day by the water! Led by a fishing enthusiast\, this expedition is for individuals of all experience levels\, no license needed! We will visit three locations and learn about catching baitfish\, reel fishing\, and different kinds of bait. We will provide poles and bait but you’re welcome to bring your own. The shuttle departs from Prairie Park Nature Center at 9 am and returns by 2:30 pm. Please note that a registered adult must accompany children under 16. Pack a sack lunch and grab your sunscreen for this fishing adventure!
