Old Fashioned July 3rd Picnic at the Mission

Old Fashioned Picnic will return on July 3, 2022! Join us on the North lawn before the NE JoCo Fireworks display at Miege for a picnic boxed dinner to enjoy on the grounds.  Bring lawn chairs or a blanket and hang out with family and friends before the fireworks display!

Every year on the third of July, the cities of Fairway, Roeland Park, Westwood, Westwood Hills and Mission Woods present a spectacular Independence Day Fireworks Display. The fireworks are launched from the Bishop Miege baseball field. So, when the rockets flare, some of the best viewing is from the beautiful Mission North Lawn.

To add to the festivities the Mission hosts an Old-Fashioned Summer Picnic with music, games, food and drink. Stake out your viewing spot early by spreading your blanket where you want to sit. Or, reserve a table for your family and friends. The Mission volunteers will serve hot dogs, grilled cheese sandwiches, popcorn, watermelon, cookies and ice cream. Enjoy patriotic music and play games while you wait for the darkness to fall and the fireworks to begin!
