Partial Solar Eclipse
This Saturday at Science City, we're celebrating the partial solar eclipse with a day of special eclipse-themed activities and a chance to view the sun like never before through a powerful telescope!
Our special activities for the day:
10am-2pm - Telescope Viewings (outside in Haverty Family Yards): Look through telescopes with Arvin Gottlieb Planetarium team members as they help you view the sun like never before.
10am-2pm - Pinhole Projector Construction (outside in Haverty Family Yards): Construct your own pinhole projector to help you view the eclipse while learning about safety and why you should never look at the sun.
10am-5pm - Abstract Eclipse Art (in Creative Corner): Use tempera paint sticks to create a piece of abstract art that shows off an eclipse of your own making!
11am-11:15am - What is an Eclipse? (in Science on a Sphere): Learn about how eclipses are regular and predictable, and learn about the eclipse scheduled to happen next year!
PLUS, the first 1,000 guests to visit Science City will receive FREE eclipse glasses that meet the ISO 12312-2 standards for light transmission and are certified for viewing the sun.
All activities are included with your Science City admission, free for Union Station Members.
Admission also includes full access to our 100,000 square feet of themed spaces packed with more than 300 interactive exhibits, including dedicated spaces just for early learners and something NEW to discover with every visit!
