Pickin’ on the Front Porch
The Atkins-Johnson Farm and Museum is proud to announce the second annual Pickin’ on the Front Porch bluegrass concert series featuring back-to-back concerts Saturday, September 8, 2018. Enjoy an afternoon performance by the Knobtown Skiffle Band at 3:00 p.m. and an evening performance by the John Brown Boys at 6:00 p.m. Both concerts are free and take place off the front porch of the historic Atkins-Johnson Farmhouse. Bring a picnic blanket, cooler and chair and enjoy outdoor live bluegrass music.
The Knobtown Skiffle is a renowned Kansas city folk band best described by themselves as “having a bluesy feel, yet jazzy and fun at the same time. Maybe a hint of ragtime is in there too. We will take you down the tracks as if we was way back in the 1920's again. That there ain't no joke neither.”
The John Brown Boys have performed at several popular Kansas City festivals including the 2018 Westport Roots Festival, Stockyards Bluegrass Sundays, 2018 Kansas State Fiddle and Pickin' Championships and the 2016 Bluegrass Brew Bash.
This event is completely free and open to the public. In the event of extreme storms, this outdoor event will be cancelled.
