Celebrate International Polar Bear Weekend with themed fun at the Kansas City Zoo!
Each year, Polar Bear Week coincides with the fall polar bear migration near Churchill, Manitoba - where polar bears gather to wait for freeze-up on Hudson Bay so they can return to hunting seals. It focuses on the importance of sea ice to polar bears and why we must take action on climate change to ensure their survival. This year’s Polar Bear Week will offer more ways for you to get involved from home!
Watch Kansas City Zoo's social media channels starting this Sunday for easy daily challenges that will help our environment and enter you into a chance to win a daily prize. Enter all five days for a chance to win a Nest programmable thermostat!
Our Zoo is proud to be the home of two polar bear ambassadors - longtime resident Berlin and soon-to-be-introduced Nuniq - and to be a partner of Polar Bears International, which is helping wild polar bears and their Arctic habitat. We hope you'll follow along with us Nov. 1 - 8 to learn more about our polar pals and how you can make a difference!
