Robotics Workshops for Kids

If you know of a child who is fascinated by robots, the St. Joseph Museum has two workshops coming up in July that are sure to hold their interest. The workshops will be held on Friday, July 27, 2018, at the St. Joseph Museum, 3406 Frederick Ave., in St. Joseph, Missouri. There will be a morning session, taking place from 9 a.m. to noon, is for students entering Kindergarten through 3rd grades. The afternoon session, taking place from 1 to 4 p.m., is for students entering the 4th through 6th grades
The robotics workshops will be led by longtime Union Star High School science instructor Rich Piper. Mr. Piper is a regular volunteer with the ever popular Super Science Saturday event that the St. Joseph Museum has co-sponsored for many years. For this project, he has designed a morning session that will include making WiggleBots, several hands-on demonstrations of robotics, and early childhood coding activities for students in kindergarten through 3rd grade. The afternoon session will include creating a make-it & take-it robot, as well as building WiggleBots and participating in hands-on simple robotics and intermediate robotics activities. There will also be learning games related to coding provided for students in the afternoon session.
The Robotics Workshop sessions at the St. Joseph Museum on July 27 are limited to 25 students. The cost of the workshop is $25 per student and paid reservations and required.
