Known across much of Kansas as summer's official kickoff party, the River Festival invites music fans, foodies, art lovers and kid-filled families to "taste" unique arts offerings set in beautiful, shaded Oakdale Park near downtown Salina.
[Sun] Nationally known for its high-quality, affordable work, the Festival's art show highlights more than 130 U.S. exhibitors in one relaxing, shaded venue. Confident collectors or first-time buyers can meet artists face-to-face, making the Festival both educational and entertaining. See artist processes firsthand in the Art/Craft Demo area or become an Art Patron to enjoy special perks. About 20 Art Installations across the park encourage Festival-goers to interact with artists and their creative processes.
[Music] The Festival's four live stages offer enticing bands, dynamic roving artists and fun children's acts. More than 20 professional touring groups rock the Eric Stein Stage and Stage II. The Bravo Stage presents emerging local and regional talent. The Thursday night Festival Jam features a local band every 15 minutes for four solid hours. On Friday evening, ballroom dancers swing and sway at the popular, indoor Big Band Dance.
[Sun glasses] Artyopolis offers hands-on arts and crafts, games, face painting, Legos and more, to spark kids' creativity and experimentation. Toddlers through pre-teens can create free make-and-take projects at Creation Crossing, win a prize on Game Street or enjoy Arty's Stage. Roving performers create magical Festival moments wherever they encounter an audience.
[Ice Cream] Food Row delights many with aromas of roasted nuts, barbecued meats and delectable desserts. More than 30 vendors offer mouthwatering treats from gourmet burgers to Asian noodles to alligator on a stick. Chocolate eclairs, Cuban sandwiches, Indian fry bread and homemade ice cream are some of the other goodies to sample as you explore new taste sensations and enjoy Festival favorites.
