Sunday Afternoon Free Program
to
Prairie Park Nature Center 2730 Harper St., Lawrence, Kansas 66046

Hi Everyone, We are working with our Parks & Recreations program and the city guidelines to get a schedule in place for reopening. Currently the schedule calls for the nature center to reopen to public visitation on June 30. The new visitor hours will be 1 PM to 5 PM.
Masks will be required of all visitors aged 4 and over inside the building. Our physical and air space is limited so we want to be sure that we can accommodate everyone safely. Trails and the lake are currently open now. The lake is open to fishing.
Preschool Nature Adventures will still meet on Tuesday mornings at 10 AM but will have very limited numbers so signing up in advance will be required.
We will need to restrict the public from handling our touch and feel animals for the forseeable future both for the protection of our visitors and the animals. The susceptibility of wildlife to COVID-19 is not fully understood at present. We do know that ferrets are at high risk, bats and cats are also affected. But other species may prove to be as well as the virus becomes better understood. We are working with wildlife biologists to keep up with what is being learned.
Thanks to everyone, we look forward to having you all back.
