This reader's theatre program with Olathe Historical Society will explore women's suffrage and the rights of African Americans in 1867 Kansas. At that time, Kansas voters had the opportunity to grant suffrage either to black men or white women.
The viewpoints in this program are representative of the time period and do not reflect the City of Olathe's opinions on the 1867 vote. Additionally, some period language used during the program might be offensive to modern listeners. Parental discretion is advised.
This program will be presented in the Heritage Center beginning at 7 p.m. Come early for Family Fun Night, beginning at 6 p.m., on the grounds. The theme will be "Wonderful Women" in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the 19th amendment. Both events are free to attend.
