Tomahawk Park Playground Ribbon Cutting Celebration
The City of Leawood is excited to invite families to celebrate the grand opening of the brand-new playground at Tomahawk Park on Thursday, April 24 at 6 p.m. Located at 3951 W 119th Street, this upgraded play space has been thoughtfully designed to spark imagination, encourage outdoor fun, and provide something for kids of all ages and abilities to enjoy.
To mark the occasion, we’re hosting a special ribbon cutting celebration filled with family-friendly fun. Kids can dive into Earth Day-themed activities like coloring bags and planting seed packs, enjoy sweet treats and goodie bags, and, of course, be among the very first to climb, swing, and explore the new playground. City officials will give brief remarks before we officially open the playground with a ceremonial ribbon cutting—and yes, we’re bringing out the giant scissors!
With features like inclusive play structures, educational signage, ground-level elements, and plenty of space to run, laugh, and learn, this playground is a joyful new addition to one of Leawood’s most beloved parks. It’s a great opportunity to celebrate the outdoors, community connection, and the joy of play just days after Earth Day. We hope to see you there!
