Leading Up to Friday’s Movie Premiere at Union Station’s Regnier Extreme Screen Theatre, the Historic Monument Transforms into “Barbie Land” as Barbie Inspired Activations – Both Inside and Outside Union Station.

Life-size Barbie box, Iconic Alpha-Lit Display, Exterior Pink Light Show and More.

Union Station is Kansas City’s “Barbie-Land”. The premiere of the much-anticipated film, Barbie, opening on Friday, July 21^st has the 109 year-old monument turning bright pink both inside and out. Fans of the iconic doll can expect elaborate photo ops throughout the Grand Hall including “Let’s Go Barbie” in alpha-lit letters surrounded by a mantel of pink balloons and silver disco balls. The fun doesn’t stop there, a 6 ft. life-size, step-in Barbie box photo op allows guests to appear as a real-life Barbie doll themselves.

Additional Barbie themed events and activations include:

• Regnier Extreme Screen Theatre: Barbie will open on the GIANT 5-story screen beginning Friday, July 21^st. Showtimes are: 12:30 (Matinee), 4 PM, and 7 PM daily. Matinee tickets are $5, and regular showtimes are $8 for adults and $7 for children 3-11. Movie Tickets to Barbie at Union Station are on sale NOW at unionstation.org. Station officials are encouraging advance tickets as large crowds are expected.   

• Historic Barbie Artifacts: Display cases filled with Barbie items ranging from the 1960’s and 1980’s are now on display in the Regnier Extreme Screen lobby. Free and open to the public.

• Exterior Building Lighting: Barbie themed shows Wednesday, July 19^th and Friday, July 21^st. Union Station’s front façade will be bathed in a spectacular pink and white light show.

• Pierpont’s at Union Station: Sit back and relax as you sip a craft-Barbie-inspired cocktail from one of Kansas City’s finest restaurants: Malibu Dream Martini - Grey Goose Le Citron, Malibu Rum, Limoncello, Dessert Pear, Lemon. Beach Barbie Lemonade - Dessert Pear, Lemon, Coconut Seltzer. Happy hour: 3 PM – 6 PM.

• Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory: Pink Sprinkle Apples! Be sure to grab one for yourself and one-to-go as these widely popular apples are a fan-favorite.

• Harvey’s Restaurant: Come for breakfast and stay for lunch with a full menu of inspired Barbie items: Barbie’s Belgian Waffle: pink waffle/ whipped cream/ macerated strawberries/ candied lemon

Miss Roberts’ Grilled Turkey: smoked turkey/ blueberry bread/ strawberry + honey aioli/ fontina cheese. Malibu Ken's Grilled Chicken Sandwich: brioche bun/ teriyaki sauce/ grilled pineapple/ swiss cheese. Skipper’s Sweet Treat: pink bundt cake/ pink whipped cream/ vanilla ice cream/ sprinkles. Barbie's  Dream Drink: ginger ale/ cranberry juice/ pineapple juice/ orange juice/ berry sherbert

• Science City Adventure Store: Mission Commander and Paleontologist dolls available for sale at Science City’s gift shop. Members save 10%.

• Grand Hall West Photo Ops: Not one but TWO insta-worthy photo ops fill Grand Hall West. Including: Alpha-Lit photo op “Let’s Go Barbie” surrounded by pink balloons. On display now through July 25^th .  A 6 ft. life-size step-in Barbie box on display Thursday, July 20^th through July 25^th. Guests are invited to take photos during building operating hours (6 AM – 11 PM).  

• Parisi: Grab a coffee and don’t forget the pop tart. Brightly colored pop tarts available (while supplies last) all week long!
