Wings Over Weston
Wings Over Weston is a children’s birding and nature festival that is free and family-friendly. Wings Over Weston introduces birds, their migration, and the importance of conservation of habitat to children. Wings Over Weston is at Weston Bend State Park’s Bee Creek Shelter on Saturday, May 4 from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Visitors will witness citizen science in action as state-licensed Ornithologists band birds. Operation Wildlife and Raptor Rehab will have live birds for viewing. Additionally, more than 30 stations offer children and families an opportunity to learn about northwest Missouri’s migratory and resident birds. Stations include arts and crafts, face painting, build a house/feeder, mazes, games, guided bird hikes, and more!
Everything, except concessions, is free at Wings Over Weston. Everyone receives a commemorative bird band upon arrival and the first 200 children will receive a free poster. Children also take home everything they make or build at no cost. Weston Bend State Park’s Bee Creek Shelter is located 1/2 mile south of Weston Bend State Park’s main entrance at 16600 Highway 45 North in Weston, Missouri. Weston Bend State Park can be reached by taking I29 to exit 20 and following the signs via Missouri State Highways 273 and 45.
