Last year, I took my girls to visit many of the pink fountains in Kansas City, and I wrote about it in this blog space. This past weekend, we saw several of the fountains, dyed pink for Breast Cancer Awareness in October, and the pink reminded me:
- How much I love my Grandma W. and I'll be forever grateful that she is a survivor.
- How much I loved my Grandma H., who bravely fought breast cancer, and how I miss her and wish she could have met my daughters.
- How much I love my daughters and have a responsibility to them to watch my health and habits and keep annual doctor appointments and watch for early detection and screening.
- How much I love my daughters and need to teach them steps of prevention as they grow up.
- Of windy days and hair blowing in the wind.... and tears shed... and prayers prayed... for my grandmothers... for my mother.... for my girls... for my friends.... may the cancer end.
As you see pink fountains in Kansas City this month, please remember to schedule exams, review steps of early detection and prevention, and offer love and encouragement to those you know who have been impacted by cancer.
