We were excited to visit Carolyn's Country Cousins recently. One of our favorite fall traditions, Carolyn's Country Cousins is a wonderful place to enjoy the best of autumn. Carolyn's is one of the largest patches in the area and one of the most popular. The entire attraction is beautifully maintained, professionally staffed, and educational. It is a priority for Carolyn and her team to continue a tradition of agricultural education and visitors find signage and exhibits throughout the attraction teaching about animals, crops, and the role of farming in America. A day at the farm is more than fun, you learn something too!
Known for their delicious pumpkin donuts and cider slushes, along with other delicious concessions (you can buy lunch there). Unique features at Carolyn's include Little Bud's Railroad, the giant rocking chair, Uncle Lester's Pig Races, visits from the Pumpkin Princess, and the trike track. And, this is a REAL pumpkin patch, with beautiful pumpkins picked right off the vine (amidst Charlie Brown and the gang awaiting the arrival of the Great Pumpkin)!
So, what is a visitor to expect at Carolyn's Country Cousins?
Our 10 Favorite Features at Carolyn's Country Cousins Pumpkin Patch:
-
The Real 50-Acre Pumpkin Patch! We enjoyed a tractor pulled wagon ride out to the patch, along with the Pumpkin Princess (who happened to be riding that afternoon) only to discover Charlie Brown and the Gang in the patch awaiting the Great Pumpkin! Our girls selected the perfect pie pumpkin right off the vine. The patch is beautiful and bountiful.
-
The Pumpkin Princess! A Carolyn's Country Cousins tradition, the Pumpkin Princess visits with guests on weekends and is available for photo ops. We enjoyed visiting with her on the farm and riding the wagon with her to the patch!
-
The Creatively Educational displays and exhibits. Carolyn's is proud of their agricultural heritage and they love sharing their passion for farming, animals, farm equipment, and horticulture with families. Visitors will find many beautifully painted displays teaching facts about animals, crops, tools, and more. This is a fun way to introduce farming education to kids.
-
Feeding animals. You may purchase animal feed for $1/bag or 25cents at a machine.
-
Little Bud's Train! Train rides are an additional $3/person. The train operates on a 1/2 mile track traveling through tunnels and around the park for a scenic and fun ride.
-
The amazing selection of pumpkins, squash, and gourds. It is a tradition for our oldest daughter to select a "Lumpy Bumpy Guy" (warty pumpkin) every year. She loves the pumpkins others might overlook. She was thrilled to find the perfect Lumpy Bumpy Guy this year at Carolyn's!
-
Fun places to play! Children enjoy the corn crib (a silo with dried corn to be enjoyed much like a sandbox - but not as messy!), straw maze, the trike track, playground, play fort, giant slides, and horse swing sets.
-
The Make a Scarecrow Station. You can purchase all the parts to make your own scarecrow (a basic it includes head, paints, shirt, hat, and straw for $15).
-
Lots of fun photo ops! You'll find beautifully painted displays and photo ops for the scrapbook!
-
Uncle Lester's Pig Races! The kids always enjoy laughing at the humorous announcements and cheering for celebrity pigs (Lindsay Loham, Brad Pig, Oprah Swinefry, Miss Piggy, and more). The bleachers make it easy for everyone to see and the races are a fun novelty.
