Visiting Carolyn's Country Cousins Pumpkin Patch 2016
2016 Edition
Every year we look forward to visiting Carolyn's Country Cousins Pumpkin Patch. Carolyn's is one of the largest patches in the area and one of the most popular. The attraction is beautiful, educational, and offers a lot of family fun. They offer season passes ($75 for unlimited visits for a group of five), and single tickets for $10 (M-Th) and $12 (Fri-Sun). Be sure to bring your KC Parent / Carolyn's Country Cousins Coupon on your visit.
NEW in 2016 my girls LOVED the Giant Jumping Pad (pictured above) and the new corn crib!
It is a priority for Carolyn and her team to continue a tradition of agricultural education and visitors find signage and exhibits throughout the attraction teaching about animals, crops, and the role of farming in America. A day at the farm is more than fun, you learn something too!
Known for their delicious pumpkin donuts (my personal favorite!) and apple cider slushes (we purchased a refillable pumpkin cup years ago and bring it every year - I store it in my fall decorations box at the end of the season), along with other delicious concessions (you can buy lunch there, they do ask that you do not bring outside food or drink, but did permit one bottle of water per person in our family).
Unique features at Carolyn's include Little Bud's Railroad, the giant rocking chair, Uncle Lester's Pig Races, visits with the Pumpkin Princess, the NEW Jack o' lantern jumping pad, the giant corn crib, and the trike track. The Pedal Kart track (only open on weekends) with large karts for big kids, teens, and two seaters for parents and child is a favorite with our family.
In addition to these great attractions, we love that Carolyn's is a REAL pumpkin patch, with beautiful pumpkins picked right off the vine. In addition, you may select specialty "off the vine" pumpkins in their shop.
We love visiting Carolyn's Country Cousins every year. In addition to taking mom and dad and the kids, over the years we have also taken cousins, friends, and this year my grandmother joined us for the fun. It truly is a great experience for the entire family!
So, what is a visitor to expect at Carolyn's Country Cousins?
Note: We visited during the week in 2016, so we missed a few of the weekend only attractions this year (pedal karts, pumpkin princess) - in those instances our 2015 photos were used to show you the fun!
Some of our Favorite Features at Carolyn's Country Cousins Pumpkin Patch:
The NEW ATTRACTIONS!!! We love the traditions at Carolyn's Country Cousins (Uncle Bud's train ride, finding our Lumpy Bumpy Pumpkins, annual photo ops), but we also love finding out what they've added each year. This year the new Jack O' Lantern jumping pad is AMAZING and the giant corn crib is fabulous! My girls always enjoyed the small corn bin, this huge corn crib is amazing. Note that you do get dusty after playing in the corn. (Visits to pumpkin patches always mean bath night here.)
The Real 50-Acre Pumpkin Patch! Visitors a tractor pulled wagon ride out to the patch, along with the Pumpkin Princess (on weekends only). Kids select the perfect pie pumpkin right off the vine. The patch is beautiful and bountiful. Note: We visited the patch on opening week and hayrides were only to the pie patch, however rides to the full patch should be open by 9/24.
The Pumpkin Princess! A Carolyn's Country Cousins tradition, the Pumpkin Princess visits with guests on weekends and is available for photo ops.
The Creatively Educational displays and exhibits. Carolyn's is proud of their agricultural heritage and they love sharing their passion for farming, animals, farm equipment, and horticulture with families. Visitors will find many beautifully painted displays teaching facts about animals, crops, tools, and more. This is a fun way to introduce farming education to kids.
Feeding animals. You may purchase animal feed.
Little Bud's Train! Train rides are an additional $3/person. The train operates on a 1/2 mile track traveling through tunnels and around the park for a scenic and fun ride.
The amazing selection of pumpkins, squash, and gourds. It is a tradition for our oldest daughter to select a "Lumpy Bumpy Guy" (warty pumpkin) every year. She loves the pumpkins others might overlook. We find the perfect Lumpy Bumpy Guy every year at Carolyn's!
Pedal Karts (these are only available on weekends) Perfect for big kids, little kids, and mom & dad. My girls LOVE the pedal karts!
Fun places to play! Children enjoy the corn crib (a silo with dried corn to be enjoyed much like a sandbox - but not as messy!), straw maze, the trike track, playground, play fort, giant slides, and horse swing sets.
Lots of fun photo ops! You'll find beautifully painted displays and photo ops for the scrapbook!
Uncle Lester's Pig Races! On weekends, catch a pig race. The kids always enjoy laughing at the humorous announcements and cheering for celebrity pigs (Lindsay Loham, Brad Pig, Oprah Swinefry, Miss Piggy, and more). The bleachers make it easy for everyone to see and the races are a fun novelty.
The Pumpkin Donuts and Cider Slushes
Concessions at Carolyn's Country Cousins are delicious! The Pumpkin Donuts are a MUST! I also recommend buying the refillable pumpkin cup for cider slushes and bringing it back year after year.
