Last December, I was driving past Barley’s in Overland Park on an ordinary weeknight when I noticed something unusual: the parking lot was completely packed. Curious and hungry, my husband and I decided to pop in and see what all the excitement was about. Before we even reached the hostess stand, we heard a cheerful roar of voices and clinking glasses. The hostess smiled and said, “Our next available reservation for Twinkle is… January 2!”
Each year, my brother takes the kids for a one-night holiday sleepover, giving my husband and me a rare chance at a festive date night. So this year, we’re planning ahead and reserving early. Kansas City’s holiday pop-up bars are bigger, brighter and busier than ever, and they’re well worth securing a spot — even just for a mocktail! Get into the holiday spirit at Touchdowns and Tinsel, a playful Kansas City–themed Christmas pop-up running November 28 through December 31.
