School is out and the sun is shining, but the gentle warmth of spring is still in the air. In other words, it’s the perfect time to get active at your local park! Whether you love soccer, disc golf or anything in between, you’ll have a blast at these parks.
William E. Macken Park, North Kansas City —
With its ball fields, tennis/pickleball courts, racquetball/handball courts, soccer field and sand volleyball court, Macken Park will keep you entertained all day. The park also has a paved walking path, two playgrounds and plenty of green space for games like tag and cornhole.
Pink Hill Park, Blue Springs —
In this 40-acre expanse, you’ll find soccer and baseball fields, tennis courts, horseshoe pits, a sand volleyball court and a gaga ball pit. Never heard of gaga ball? It’s a less extreme, more family-friendly version of dodgeball. The rules for the game are listed in the pit, so just bring a lightweight ball and be prepared to have fun! One last bonus is the park’s BMX race track, where you can watch bikers of all ages speed through the course. You can sign up for a trial membership if you want to get in on the action.

Sar-Ko-Par Trails Park, Lenexa —
From basketball and tennis courts, to a nine-hole disc golf course, to a roller hockey rink, this park has something for everyone. Sar-Ko-Par Trails Park is also home to the Rolling Magic Skate Park, which is designed for all ages, skill levels and abilities. Inline skates, skateboards, scooters, non-motorized bikes and wheelchairs are all welcome at the skate park. If you still have energy to burn, check out the nearby trails, playgrounds, e-bike hub and aquatic center.
Antioch Park, Merriam —
You may have heard about Antioch Park’s iconic Wild West play area, but did you know this park is also ideal for sports enthusiasts? Antioch Park contains a newly renovated basketball court, a bocce ball area and two tennis courts. Park-goers also enjoy the horseshoe pits and the three miles of paved walking trails.

Indian Valley Park, Overland Park —
No matter what sport you like to play, you’ll have a ball at this park! Gather up your friends for a casual game on the baseball field, or enjoy playing tennis or pickleball on the tennis courts. If skates are more your thing, check out the park’s incredible roller hockey rink. And don’t forget about the multi-use field and soccer field! These areas are perfect for practicing drills and enjoying a variety of games.
