It’s time to celebrate! My Ally is turning 8 and we’re in full birthday preparation in our home. She’s chosen a game theme for her party and TRex for her birthday dinner and a cookie cake is her treat of choice to bring to school. While she revels in the planning and events, I always tend to get a bit nostalgic when it comes to the girls’ birthdays. I can close my eyes and picture them as newborn babies and can almost feel them in my arms as I held them for the first time.
Ally made her grand entrance at 6:10 on a Friday morning. She came out screaming (and decided to keep on screaming for about two months) with jet black hair and a chunky, chubby little body and deep, deep blue eyes (my mom always referred to them as her “Elizabeth Taylor” eyes). She was a hard pregnancy, easy labor, difficult baby and delightful toddler.
And now, here she is at 8. Ally brings such joy and laughter into our home on a daily basis. I’ve been told more than once that I should write down the many, many things that she says…she keeps a smile on my face! She is also, one of the most giving and thoughtful children I know. For Halloween, she asked if she could dress up as a florist and hand out flowers to every house she visited for trick or treating. She will always share, take the smallest cookie and go last in any game. I know it’s been said that parents are the child’s first teacher, but more often than not, Ally has been the one to teach me.
So, my darling Ally, happy, happy birthday to you! I hope your day is as wonderful as you!! I love you!
