Baby Shower Tips from KC Parent’s Facebook Fans
Gina Marie Klopstein, "Chances are that not all the guests at the baby shower will know each other. A fun way to fix the situation is to make cute nametags. When people call you to RSVP, ask then how they would like to be known at the shower. For example, “Tina: mommy-to-be's coworker” or “Emma: mommy-to-be's childhood friend.”
Frances Murphy, "On each invitation, ask the guests to bring one of their favorite childhood books to give to the baby. Ask them to write a personal or inspirational message to the child on the inside cover or title page. This is a great way jump start the new baby's library."
Anna Smith Dupree, "Making a time capsule is a fantastic baby shower game or gift. Decorate a large container with the baby's name (if known) and the baby shower theme. Have each guest bring something relevant to put inside the capsule. Some great ideas include newspaper or magazine articles, CDs of current music and DVDs of current movies, etc. In addition, have each guest write a personal note to the baby and include in the capsule."
Marcia Williams Valera, "My favorite baby gift was from my sisters, a New Mother and Baby Kit from WorldVision. You can help new moms in countries around the world by giving them the supplies they need to care for their newborns during the first critical weeks of life. The kit includes a bassinet, diapers, a blanket, a container for clean water and soap. I had everything I could possibly need and it made me very glad to help another mom!"
Takako Griffith, "One of my favorite gifts my husband and I received was homemade meals. We were so blessed to not need to worry about cooking each and every meal."
Shower Game Ideas
Baby Lotto Fun
Create bingo cards with common baby items on the cards that the mom might receive at her shower. Things like - diapers, booties, blankets, cap, baby powder, etc. As the new mother unwraps her gifts guest mark off the items on their bingo card. First to get a straight row yells BABY and wins the prize.
Forbidden Words
As each guest arrives to the shower they are given a spring type clothespin. They clip this on their shirt or blouse. The forbidden word is BABY (or a word of your choice). If one guest uses the term forbidden any other guest can claim that guest's clothespin. The person with the most clothespins at the end wins.
Price is Right
Fill a diaper bag with baby essentials for mom. Reach into the bag, pull out an item and hold it up. Ask the guests guess the price of the item. At the end of the game, the new mom gets the diaper bag and items inside.
