Since December 1, we've been home much more than usual - granted our usual isn't home much as we LOVE outings, but still.... between the birth of the new baby, the snow, a round of colds, and holidays... we've been "homebound" a lot. With my girls (4, 2, and now 1 mos), we do well with preschool at home, cooking, art, library books, games, activities, etc... but they still desperately NEED active play and exercise and I NEED adult interaction from time to time... and so this post is my "Thank You" to the great facilities around town that have afforded us that much needed Winter Outing!
Five Winter Outings We LOVE for EXERCISE:
- Jumping Jax: This inflatable indoor playground offers lots of great play equipment and a zipline. What I love about Jumping Jax more than other inflatable play places around town is that you purchase an ALL DAY pass (we go get lunch and come back), a lounge for parents, and a nice floorplan to keep the girls safe and "watchable."
- Paradise Park: The Children's Edutainment Center is a great hands-on museum for kids and the Foam Factory offers terrific recreation and daddy/daughter play. We loved this outing on a Friday night when the girls' uncle visited.
- Matt Ross Community Center: The Indoor Playplace is FREE. They offer tunnels and slides similar to a McDonald's playland, but you don't have to purchase a Happy Meal to play!
- Parkside Coffee House: This is another FREE indoor playplace with children's playground equipment, ride ons, and a coffee shop for moms.
- Summit Lanes Mommy & Me Bumper Bowling: On Wednesdays, Summit Lanes in Lee's Summit offers Bumper Bowling for $3/person and it includes a snack! This is a great way to get a little recreation and play WITH your kids!
This list is just a beginning... there are MANY terrific places for a little recreation in the winter and for this mom, I am EXTREMELY grateful for the variety and wonderful options out there. For a guide to indoor play, including addresses check out our
PS: The staff at each of the 5 on our favorites have always been terrific and friendly... a major added bonus!
So, where do your kids most enjoy exercise in the winter? Any faves!
