I vividly remember coming home from my baby shower and organizing all those cute little baby clothes and accessories. It was so exciting to look at those little things and imagine the baby that would soon use them.
Now, five years later, our youngest and last child is one and a half. I've been sorting through some of those same things that have been used well by all three of our children. This time, as I sort through them, I'm wondering if I have any friends or acquaintances who could use them or if I should just drop them off at the thrift store.
It was those items from my baby registry that I thought about as I recently cleaned our carpets. Yes, these two things do actually relate.
I was thinking, as I used the borrowed carpet cleaner, that perhaps baby registries should call for a few more practical things that have some lasting value. I'm extremely grateful for all the gifts that were bestowed on us. It also gives me great joy to pass some of these things on to my friends. However, there are a couple of things that would have made for great baby gifts and would still be helpful today.
Mainly I'm talking about a carpet cleaner and Clorox wipes. Lots of Clorox wipes. (Though really, I'm not partial to any particular brand.) So far, we've potty trained two kiddos with one more to go within the next year. Plus, one of those kiddos is a boy. That explains the lots of Clorox wipes.
I don't really suppose anyone would actually want to give these gifts to the new parents. However, I'm still curious...Is there anything you wish had been given to you before you brought baby home?
