In the blink of an eye, your newborn has become a baby, then that baby turns into a toddler, then a preschooler, and soon, your "newborn" is running off to school with a backpack and lunch in tow, and you're left wondering where all the time went. Sound familiar? Every parent exclaims with a resounding "Yes!" to this.
One gift we've been given from God second to our memory is photographs. Photography allows us to capture the moments, the soft skin, innocence, curiosity, make-believe, and all that is unique to childhood. This past weekend, our family went out to capture some snapshots of our sweet kiddos, and we also got an adventure along the way.
Ryan and Beth McElwain of RPatrickImages took our photos and we are more than happy with the images they captured. They were easy going with our nearly 3 year old and 7 month old, and their gentle nature and relaxed way of doing photography made it very easy for our oldest to warm up to them and the camera.
As I've blogged before, parents of young children bring just about everything but the kitchen sink when they go anywhere. And a trip to Loose Park for pictures was no exception. While we took pictures, ran, played, walked around, and were just comfortable being "us", the McElwain's did the work. They captured the moments behind the lens, carted our stroller, diaper bag, Bumbo seat, blankets, and everything else around, rescued the drowning pacifier out of the nasty pond that it fell into, followed us across the park for an emergency potty break, and came to the rescue with band-aids and ointment when our budding ballerina tripped and skinned her knee on some rocks. They were accommodating and patient, and we reaped the benefits with some quality pictures and memories to last a lifetime.
The McElwain's will be hosting mini-photography sessions on April 16th, April 30th, and May 14th. If you're up for the adventure and the challenge, consider booking your family for one of these sessions.
My husband's comment, upon seeing the images, was simply, "That was worth it." Check out my personal blog at www.MarisaAndNathan.blogspot.com to see some of our adventure!
