I’ve always viewed my mom as a strong person. She’s dealt with a lot in her life, including the sudden loss of her mother when I was just six weeks old, a child with a chronic health condition, the sudden loss of her husband, and all the other everyday things that life throws your way. But this past year I feel like she’s really been given more than her share to deal with. She lost her son unexpectedly and, a few weeks later, received a cancer diagnosis. This month finds her thick into her chemo journey, and as anyone who’s been through chemo knows, it’s a doozy. But in the midst of it all, she’s remained the positive, strong and upbeat woman that I am proud to call Mom. She continues to amaze me with her strength, spirit and joie de vivre! Happy Mother’s Day, Mom! I hope your day is full of peace and relaxation—you deserve it!
