Music Theatre Kansas City (MTKC) is a professional program committed to bringing quality musical theatre and preparatory training to the Kansas City community.
It started as Music Theatre for Young People, originally founded in Wichita, Kansas in 1984 by Ms. Cary Danielson. In 1992, Ms. Danielson moved to the Kansas City area and founded Music Theatre for Young People of Kansas City. In 2014, the Kansas City organization legally rebranded to Music Theatre Kansas City.
MTKC does not own its own theatre or rehearsal space, but mounts its productions at several different venues in the Kansas City area.
