South Lake Park is a 14-acre community park with plenty of space for outdoor activities, including fishing, a playground, a loop-trail and areas to relax in the shade.
Floating Wetlands at South Lake
In 2018, Overland Park installed its first floating wetland project to improve the water quality of South Lake and eliminate harmful algal blooms.
Floating wetlands are buoyant structures that allow natural wetland plants to grow on the lake surface, absorbing excess nutrients like nitrogen and phosphorus.
These floating wetlands will create a cleaner and safer South Lake that will improve fishing and recreational opportunities. Keep watch at South Lake Park as this project continues to grow.
