Okay, let’s address the most obvious issue first. No, I am not a mom. Although I play Mr. Mom during the summer months, I am a dad. I know this is the “Mom Blogs” page, but I am not a mom. So, why am I writing on a “Mom Blogs” page? Well, we dads need a voice, we need to tell our side of the parenting story, and because I was asked to. With that said, I am only slightly offended that my blog is posted on the “Mom Blogs” page, but hey, hopefully, we can get the powers that be to call it the “Mom and Dad Blogs”, or maybe they will even create a separate “Dad Blogs” page just for us dads. Who knows, stranger things have happened. Either way, I am going to do my thing, a dad swimming in a sea of moms.
Now the next question I am sure you are asking is: what qualifies me to write a “Dad Blog”? The answer to this one is easy. I am a dad, plain and simple. I am the father of three wonderful children, ages 8, 6, and 2. I am also the father of a special-needs child; my six-year-old son is visually impaired. Other than that, I don’t think I am any more qualified than any other dad to write this blog.
Although I make no guarantees, I hope to offer every father, every parent for that matter, some tips, humor, and insight about the everyday struggles we all face raising our children today. As an educator, a father, and the father of a special-needs child, I hope I can offer a unique perspective on a variety of topics.
I only ask one thing in return. Even though this is the “Mom Blog” please remember I am a dad.
