I can't believe it's been seven days since Lucy was welcomed into our family! On October 18th, Lucy Abigail Light was born into a family where she is MUCH loved and adored.
In the past seven days we've been praising God for...
- My doctor! She was wonderful and responded quickly to make the best decisions for us as Lucy was rapidly arriving. I've always been grateful for my doctor, but ESPECIALLY so this time!
- We're all healthy!
- My husband was able to spend our first three days home with us (in the past, he had to return to work as fast as I returned home from the hospital, and as our first three days included the weekend - we got three for the "price of one" in vacation time!).
- My older girls ADORE their sister and have been very loving and gentle with her.
- We've been able to steal away a few moments each day for one on one time with the other girls (that may be as simple as reading a short book, looking through a craft book for Christmas ideas - my oldest is a planner, singing a song, or just cuddling for a few minutes).
- Freezer meals prepped ahead have been a big blessing - we're enjoying a variety of healthy meals and the girls were especially glad for the frozen ahead waffles we made.... Saturdays are traditionally big breakfast days here, so that worked perfectly with little/no work on our part - pop in the toaster and voila!
- Technology is great - with Skype, Facebook, email, and digital photos - even our long distance relatives have been able to "meet" Lucy and see her in the first few days.
- The girls were able to see friends this weekend at a birthday party, AWANA, and playing at the park twice since we've been home... this is helping "prevent" cabin fever this week when I'm not supposed to drive.
- My friend who reported to me that when she saw my husband at the birthday party as he dropped off the older girls, she asked about the baby and he was SO EXCITED "you would've thought it was his first"... because as we say, "She may be our 4th daughter, but she is our FIRST Lucy."
- All of our friends and family.
- No one is coming to my house right now to see the "condition" it is in! :) And, I'm trying to ignore it right now and remember it doesn't matter.......
- This is just the beginning of the list, but the baby is crying so I must sign off. Thank you all for your kind words on the KC Parent Facebook Page! We're very happy to welcome Lucy to our family!
