So, I have this old boring bookshelf in my home office. I love it for holding books and crafts and even my TV, but it is not the cutest. I keep meaning to paint it. But, it is heavy, and I am never motivated to take it to the garage to just give it a new color.
So, in a frustrated moment I had an “a-ha!” I’ll spruce it up in less than 5 minutes using washi tape! It is really the edges of the shelves that are the most unattractive (and the chipped paint on the top), so I can have a lovely new look to it quickly just by focusing on those spots.
I started off trying to use yellow washi tape (to match the paint on the walls), but you couldn’t even tell it was there, the color was light and wasn’t really a perfect match anyway. So, if you try this you might stick with a brighter color or bolder print, like what I finally ended up using here.
I could see this also being darling on furniture in a kid’s room. The best part of washi tape is that if you get tired of it you can peel it right up – no problem! Have fun!
