Over the years, we've had a few toys or possessions break that required a little extra TLC. My mother gave my oldest a wooden rocking chair for her dolls. One of my teenage students thought he could sit in it (keep in mind that it was too small for my toddler) and he broke part of the wood. My husband had to repair the rocker.
Likewise, my husband is an electronics guru and he's had to repair most electronic toys that have entered this home (especially those from Craigslist, like our VSmile, or hand-me-downs from friends). As that's his hobby, he's had complete success thus far.
And so, my daughter has come to two conclusions: 1) Daddy can fix ANYTHING! (I confess, I almost believe this too.) and 2) ONLY Daddy can fix things.
Last night, she was coloring a picture that required some scotch tape. Daddy can do it. Her toy camera required new batteries and Daddy wasn't home. I offered to fix it, she replied, "No mom, you don't know how. We have to wait for Daddy."
Okay, I may not be an electrician. Okay, I am NOT an electrician, but I do know how to use scotch tape, replace batteries, and even wield the occasional screw driver or hammer. But, not in my daughter's eyes. ONLY Daddy can fix things.
I wonder if she thinks my daddy can fix things too (her Grandpa) or only her daddy? Is he the only one with these special powers? I also wonder how long her daddy will hold this special talent in her eyes?
