Valentine’s Day is right around the corner. Nothing like stating the obvious, right? So, do you have a date night out planned? I don’t. However, I am considering a date night in with my hubby.
Date nights out are wonderful. Please don’t think I don’t appreciate them or don’t think they are important. However, for us, they don’t happen without a lot of work and money. We have to find a babysitter who is available. Of course, good babysitters always have a full schedule. Then, we have to find the funds to pay the babysitter. (We believe in paying our sitters well, especially since our kiddos are 5, 3, and 2. They can be a lot of work! ) Unfortunately, we’re lucky if date nights out happen once a month. That’s why when a friend mentioned her goal of a date night in once a week, I listened.
Her goal is simply to have a date night once a week with her husband after they tuck their kids into bed. I love it! It’s the perfect solution to not getting enough time with your sweetie.
I talked my friend into sharing her list of ideas with me so that I could then share her list with you! Here are some of her suggestions…
Re-watch the first movie you ever saw together.
Make a special "new" dessert together and indulge.
Play a favorite board game.
Sit outside and read together.
Each person makes a CD of their favorite songs from high school and then plays them to have a dance party together.
Enjoy a picnic on the living room floor....complete with a blanket and a basket.
Borrow travel books and plan a dream vacation.
Get a learn-to-draw book and spend the night sketching.
Have theme movie nights. (Eat Italian food and watch "Italian Job" or eat Mexican food and watch "The Mexican.”
Have a spa night by indulging in new scents, oils, and lotions. Give each other foot soaks and back rubs.
Make a digital scrapbook together.
Plan a real vacation.
Watch a sports game and pretend you're there by eating nachos, hot dogs, etc.
Rent a dance lesson video and learn some new moves together.
Try a new video game.
Are you inspired to schedule a date night in? I know I sure am! I’m also wondering what you would add to this list. What are your suggestions?
