With the temperatures at night dipping into the low 40's, and the shelves at the grocery store finally being stocked with delicious apple cider, fall has officially arrived here in Kansas City! There are so many things about fall that I love: the changing colors of the leaves on the tree, the smell of logs burning in a fireplace, the crinkle sound of leaves on the ground under my feet. But while fall brings about many changes outdoors, it also provides delicious smells indoors that have been missing during the summer months.
In our house, fall is a "tasty" season, full of spice, warmth, and comfort foods. Hearty meals seem to fit the season, and my crockpot will be the source of great tasting meals that our family looks forward to. In addition, using the crockpot is an efficient way to "cook" dinner all day, without actually doing just that!
As we kick off another fall season here in town, I am always looking for new recipes to add to my book. A new spin on an old classic, using unusual ingredients, or simply finding a new recipe treasure that I had never tried before makes cooking all the more exciting for me.
A favorite crockpot recipe in our house is Taste of Home's White Chili. This recipe is hearty, robust, flavorful, and sure to be a favorite at your home as well. Throw it in a crockpot before you head out the door for work, and come home to a warm meal ready to be devoured.
What is a favorite fall recipe of yours? I'd love to try out something new at our house! Share your favorite recipe and try a new one while you're at it!
