Make a small ball out of old newspaper and stuff it into the toe of someone’s shoes. They'll wonder why their shoes don't fit today. ~ Stacy White
We put a rubber band around the sprayer on the sink, so the first person to use the kitchen sink in the morning, gets quite a surprise when they turn the water on! My 8 year old has been trying to do it to me for YEARS, on any day possible, not just April Fool's Day! ~ Valerie Baul
Especially for children who do not see the importance of mating socks: sneak in their room after they are asleep and whip stitch their socks together in a big chain...when they pull out one, they pull out the drawer full. OR Randomly super glue coins to the sidewalk or driveway and watch people attempt to pick them up. OR For those who don't have to be up early April 1st or 2nd: After the children are in bed and well asleep, reset the clocks to say 7am (or whatever time you usually get up. Shine a bright light just outside their window inconspiculously. Wake them up for school...we did this more than once and the second time actually took the children LONGER to figure out it was the middle of the night. OR Turn everything you can think of (or want to mess with) backward in your house - pictures on the walls, posters, little pretties/dust collectors on shelves, the shower curtain, the coffee maker, etc. ~ Kim Bowlin
Change your answering machine message. (For example, say, "Hello. Hello."... in such a way to lead the caller to think you've answered the phone.) OR Backwards Day is fun for anyday, but April 1st is a good time to spring it on kids...they'll think it's really neat! Have dinner for breakfast and vice versa, wear pj's all day, have dessert first, everything backwards you can come up with. OR Put Koolaid powder in the shower head...Make sure it's someone's favorite color. ~ Sarah Diddle
Unplug Daddy's computer mouse, but make it look like it's still plugged in! He'll be very surprised to find it's not working on April 1. ~ Amy Watkins
Food Pranks
Buy a pack of gum, unwrap a piece and remove the gum. Then, refold the wrapping so it looks like a new piece of gum (oops it's really empty) and offer it to your friend! (Be nice when you're done and give them a real piece of gum.) ~ Katie Welter
Put a few drops of food coloring in the kids' cereal bowl, then pour dry cereal on top of it. When they add milk to their cereal, it will magically change color right before their eyes. ~ Tammy Johnson
Use fake bugs (leftover from Halloween or buy them at US Toy in the Carnival section), wash them well, then place them in an ice cube tray and fill with water. Freeze the cubes and use them in the kids' drinks at dinner time! ~ Rachel Stone
I like April Fool's Food - chocolate cake that looks like meatloaf, ice cream that looks like mashed potatoes and candies that look like green beans...that was a fun one!! ~ Valerie Baul
Switch salt for sugar in the sugar bowl. ~ Jennifer Brown
Make food that looks like something else: Hamburger Cupcakes with cookie french fries (and strawberry dipping sauce of course!), "Dirt & Worms" (pudding cups with crushed oreos and gummy worms), Food coloring in the milk and/or eggs for breakfast. ~ Sara Keenan
Serve dinner for breakfast, and breakfast for dinner. ~ Erica Miller
Before a rain, sprinkle instant mashed potatoes on a lawn. When it rains, the yard is covered with mashed potatoes. ~ Stacy Jacobs
