I know I preach all about using coupons, saving money, not paying full price. I will admit that there are times when I do pay full price -- and dare I say it -- don't use a coupon! And the thing is, I don't even feel guilty about it when I do.
Shocking, isn't it? Why in the world would you ever pay full price for anything? Well, there are items that aren't on sale. There are also times when I need something and don't have time to wait for an on-line discount or free shipping code. But the good news is -- I've already saved elsewhere.
Each week, when I can save on our weekly grocery bill, I consider that money in my pocket. We'll move that money into a separate account. Whenever the time comes, I can just go into my mad money account and have fun.
It isn't even always big ticket items (such as the new bedding set we purchased this past week). It can be something small like Diet Coke. This is something that I love to drink and when I can save an extra $5 at the grocery store, I use my savings to go ahead and get a 12 pack of Diet Coke -- even if it isn't on sale.
Saving and spending is about balance. When you save money one place, you can then spend it somewhere else. Sure, saving is important, but so is living life. And if I can't enjoy spending money on the frivolous things once in a while....then what is the point of working so hard to save?
