Do you ever say you’re going to get on the computer “to just check my email?” If so, are you like me and that quick check suddenly turns into much more?
I don’t know about you, but lately I’ve found that when I sit down to do something at the computer, I suddenly find myself doing everything but what I needed to do.
So, if what I’m really supposed to be doing is emailing one of my children’s teachers, what you currently might find me doing, in no particular order, is…
- Checking the weather.
- Researching Christmas gifts at Amazon or Target.com.
- Reading blogs. (My current favorites are Thrifty Décor Chick, Nesting Place, A Soft Place to Land, The Inspired Room, and of course, Mom Blogs at KCParent.com.)
- Catching up on Facebook. (It’s so much easier to get down to what I really need to do after I know what someone I haven’t seen since high school had for dinner. Truly.)
- Checking my library account information and putting way more books on hold than I could possibly read.
Of course, then checking my library account might remind me that one of my kids needs to take library books back to school the next day. That will then remind me that I opened the computer to send an email to a teacher. So, I’ll get to that right after I upload a few pictures onto my computer. My memory card was getting awfully full….
What do you find yourself doing when you sit down at the computer? Perhaps you’re a tad more disciplined than me. Good for you! Still, are there any blogs or other sites you like to read for fun? Do tell. My procrastinating self will thank you!
